For any of you living in the Pacific Northwest, man, what an amazing summer this has been, right?! Beautiful sunshine filled days just ready to be filled with fun. This summer made me think back to my own summers as a boy growing up in Bellingham. My brothers and I used to ride our bikes all over the neighborhood, build forts in the forest behind our house, climb trees to survey “our land,” and even battle armies with our Army men. Can’t say I did all that this summer, but close 😉
Recently, I had the chance to work the Schoembs’ family. What struck me most (other than the fact that they are so amazingly photogenic!) was the affection between their kids. It was so fun to see them relax in front of the camera and just settle into their own world of playing and chatting. There really is something so special about making these summertime memories together as siblings.
Thanks to the Schoembs family!

Seattle Wedding by Lake Washington
Some of you may have seen Surina and Aman’s engagement photos here. Ever since we wrapped up that session, I’d been looking forward to their wedding weekend. Every wedding, like every couple, tells a unique story. In this case, the story is one of love, dedication and so much joy! I had the chance to spend several days not only with Surina and Aman but with their wonderful families too. As Surina mentioned in her speech during the reception, “…a marriage is not between two people, but between two families.” This wedding was certainly proof of this beautiful idea.
Surina and Aman have been living a long distance relationship for a while now and I’m just so happy that they finally get to be together! Congratulations to them and their families. Cheers to their happy marriage!

Remember this, that very little is needed to make a happy life.
Live in wonder.
Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.
I love the following picture. Live in wonder. Henry was looking through the cracks, at the water below the dock. Winston’s curiousity got the better of him, and he wanted to look, too! It was as if they discovered their own secret world, and they were immersed in the moment – watching the water crash into the shore.
Pure. Joy.
Thank you Chris and Robin, for being such caring, kind, and thoughtful friends to Jasmine & me. We look forward to spending more time with your wonderful family, and to watch the boys grow up as they embark on their journeys.
When taking photos, being involved with my couples is super important to me. Engagement sessions are an opportunity to get to know each other, and to share our stories and build connections. And it’s all of these elements that go into creating an image that truly portrays a relationship.
As we walked through old train cars, we were surrounded by a resilience that has stood the test of time, and I couldn’t help but to make a correlation to Sean and Jono. They have been dating for quite some time, and Jono mentioned a few words that stuck with me… it was the way he said it, with a feeling of triumph, “…we’ve waited a long time for this….” And I could feel the strength of their patience. Love is patient.
Soon we’ll be celebrating your wedding – it’s going to be amazing, and joyful, and I can’t wait!
Thanks for all the positive energy you brought to our session, and for sharing your love story with me- one that I hope is reflected in these photos.
While driving the other day, I heard a Mumford & Sons song, and it reminded me of the photo below….
“…we will run and scream,
you will dance with me
they’ll fulfill our dreams,
and we’ll be free”
Congratulations Sean and Jono- you guys are so wonderful together, and I’m so excited for your wedding!!
